About
It is the Queenswood Group’s mission to promote, develop, and implement innovative and personalized programmes, services, and supports. By doing so, we hope to ensure that all individuals we associate with, who have cognitive disabilities and behaioural challenges, are welcomed into their neighhourhoods and communities as valued and contributing members.
The Queenswood Group will provide a range of thoughts, ideas and problems we continually broach in the work we do, as well as approaches that we use on a daily basis. We hope this web site will become a place where all, regardless of training, philosophies, or experience, will gain from supportive dialogue within a positive milieu. Please enter with an open mind, an attitude that represents your cup as “half full,” and a willingness to accept constructive suggestions as well as different, novel, and creative notions, hypotheses, and approaches.
Queenswood Professional Resource Group Inc. (and as Queenswood Consulting previous to 2003) has been providing psychological assessment and consulting services to the North since 1991 (from 1984 to 1987, Dr. Hallman provided bi-yearly assessment clinics to the Terrace School District). Our philosophy has been to make available comprehensive evaluations/investigations to individuals as close to their community or home as possible. We make available assessments of the same quality as would be expected if the individual travelled to our office in Prince George, or, indeed, travelled to the lower mainland or Alberta. In most cases, assessment has occurred within the community, although, on numerous occasions, we have tested in the individual’s home. Feed-back session, training, consulting, and counselling occur most often in person and in situ, however, due to the size of the territory we cover, we have also utilized teleconferencing and videoconferencing when necessary.
The area we typically cover is bordered by 100 Mile House in the South to Fort Nelson in the North, and Prince George in the East to the Queen Charlotte Islands in the West, however, we will take our clinic to any region of British Columbia or Saskatchewan. We are on the road several times per month and make between 75 and 100 community stops per year (not counting plane trips, we drove over 50,000 Km during 2007).

With the development of the Queenswood Quality of Life Through Greater Understanding Foundation, we hope to begin providing an overseer role to residential facilities with particular emphasis on developing quality of life, valuation, and inclusion for those individuals displaying the most recalcitrant and socially disruptive behaviours.
The North is a vast area of unsurpassed beauty, power, majesty, subtleness, softness, solitude, and peacefulness (See the Picture Gallery Page). The people are warm-hearted and caring. It has been a privilege and an honour to have associated with these individuals over the past twenty-four years.
