Pre-Incident Screening Assessment
Queenswood Professional Group Inc. provides pre-incident psychological/neuropsychological assessment as a form of insurance for the possiblity of a future brain injury. We don’t wish to seem macabre, however, in our very busy lives there is a reasonable probability that some of us will experience a fall, a car accident, an industrial accident, sports related concussion, or other types of traumatic incidences. One of the most difficult exercises for Neuropsychology, after someone has sustained a head injury, is to determine the premorbid level of functioning. The Neuropsychologist wants to know the premorbid functional levels so that an understanding of the degree of loss sustained can be determined. This knowledge may impact the type of interventions that may be developed, the type and level of compensation that may be sought, when it might be safe for an athelete to resume playing, as well as a better understanding of the process that recovery may likely take.
The Queenswood Group will determine your present intellectual and academic profile, and will place this information in a secured area (note, the process is a bit more extensive for sports concussions). You will present us with the name (and signature) of a family member, friend, lawyer, or other who will have authority to request this profile be released if, and only if, you sustain a head injury.
Queenswood Group’s rates are consistent with the current Fee Schedule of the British Columbia Psychological Association. Please see their web site for information on the role of the Association in the practice of Psychology in B.C.
