MUSIC and HIGHER GRADES / NEUROLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

Improve your child’s school grades, possibly increase IQ, and provide a valued skill

To you who are parents, especially with kids under ten years of age, there is now sufficient information available to suggest that being enmeshed in music will improve how the brain functions (possibly more synapses or more complexity of connections) which appears to transition to all aspects of the child’s life, particularly grades at school (might have a beneficial effect for those of us of an older age too).  The following are a sample of what others are saying:

If I had children, I would run, not walk, to where I could obtain musical instruction (instruments, voice, musical theatre, and similar), because I would want to give them the best foot up for the future that I could.

Hey, wait, I do have children and I did put them in music (both my son and daughter began piano at three years of age and both went on to learn other instruments).  Although there may be other reasons besides the early music lessons, my son finished Grade Ten piano, has become accomplished on several other instruments, has a wonderful trained singing voice, and now owns his own music school, conducts/has conducted many musical theatre groups, conducts musical choirs, plays in dinner theatre, and provides opportunities for children and adolescents to participate in summer musical theatre camps (these are incredible productions [I have seen five] of full Broadway Musicals that are put together in full and presented to the community after only two to three weeks of practice).  My daughter, who went to Grade Seven piano and also is proficient on the flute, is now in her final years of a Ph.D., (just recently received a pass with distinction for her comprehensive exams!) after volunteering for a year in England and spending numerous months travelling around the South Pacific).
